Fall Silicone PaciGrip & Bib Sidekick

CLIENT: Walmart and their customers in the baby aisle, BooginHead customer

ROLE: Art Director, Graphic Designer, & Liaison to China manufacturing rep

DELIVERABLES: Custom illustrations on four silicone bibs, matching silicone PaciGrip pacifier holders (two styles; POP and CHAIN), hang card packaging, and sidekick creation.

PROCESS: The process can be broken down into two stages; Concept, Mockups, & Presentation + Dielines, Physical Mockup Creation, Product Sampling & Quality Control

Concept, Digital Mockups, & Presentation

After an internal kickoff meeting to go over the brief, I worked very quickly to present an inspiration board and possible design options. Ideas get narrowed down, and then I began working on the digital mockups for the presentation to Walmart. Per our limited delivery time, simple mockup hang cards are used as a placeholder until the specs are created later. One of the many challenges with this project is that halfway through pattern designing, we received notice that the creative for the brief was changing, resulting in 50+ total digital mockups. After the presentation review, Walmart awarded BooginHead the fall Silicone PaciGrip + Bib sidekick, picking up my designs. (Unable to show presentation due to NDA).

Once Speced, Lets Test!

Product & Hangcards - After everything is measured and first draft of the dielines are created, full sized printouts of the front and back are carefully cut out with a designers good friend, Mr. Xacto. Text readability, spacing, and weight distribution for peg placements (level on-shelf) are confirmed. Any additional packaging items are also tested, such as plastic fascinators and zipties, to ensure no details are missed before we go into production.

Sidekick - Walmart has very specific size requirements for their in-store sidekick features. Making sure everything fits nicely inside, there is a lot of math involved. Compensation for the top header, peg placement, and hang length are all taken into consideration before approving.
